Fantasy Baseball Streaming: Three Underrostered Two-Start Pitchers (8/21 – 8/27)

Graham Ashcraft (CIN) – Monday @ LAA, Sunday @ ARI – 45% Rostered

At first glance, Ashcraft’s 6-8 record with a 4.89 ERA may scare some people away. However, he’s brought his ERA down from 7.17 over the last two months.

Since allowing six earned runs to the Braves on June 24th, Ashcraft has yet to allow more than three earned runs in an outing (doing that just twice) with just 14 ER allowed in 58 innings.

The Angels have fallen off a bit since the trade deadline, as have the Diamondbacks. What would’ve been a pair of tough matchups in an alternate timeline represent two decent opponents for Ashcraft and the Reds this week.

Javier Assad (CHC) – Monday @ DET, Saturday @ PIT – 13% Rostered

Speaking of easier matchups, Javier Assad has two of the easiest matchups you’ll see this week. He may have been worth an add, even with tougher opponents.

Assad spent his first few months working out of the bullpen but has transitioned to the starting rotation well. In his first three starts (all this month), Assad allowed six runs (five earned) across 16.2 IP against the Braves, Blue Jays, and White Sox. He’s gone six-plus innings in each of his last two outings for back-to-back quality starts.

Assad should be in line for another win or two this week. With a quality start, a distinct possibility as well. He should be rostered in well over 13% of leagues.

Zack Littell (TB) – Tuesday vs. COL, Sunday vs. NYY – 14% Rostered

If you’re streaming for wins, Littell might be your man. The 75-51 Rays will have Littell on the mound against the 48-76 Rockies (20-43 on the road) and the 60-64 Yankees.

Littell was utilized out of the bullpen and as an opener earlier this season, but like Assad, he has had a few good starts in a row. The right-hander has a 2.78 ERA (7 ER in 22.2 IP) with 15 strikeouts in his last four outings. He’s been efficient with quality starts against the Tigers and Cardinals while throwing less than 75 pitches.

The Rays should be big favorites against the Rockies and then decently favored against the Yankees to close out the week. Littell is a good under-the-radar look this week at just 14% rostered.
