Major season is complete, and we are on the final push to the playoffs. We head from Royal Liverpool to TPC Twin Cities, which could not be more of a different style of golf. TPC Twin Cities will provide a very American style of golf which will lead to a lot of target golf, and the trouble will be right in front of you.
Course History is not a prerequisite here as it is a newer stop on tour, and tracks with a lot of water tend to be very volatile. We look for golfers trending tee to green to enter into our 2023 3m Open Lineups.
2023 3M Open DFS: Best Plays in Each Price Range
2023 3M Open DFS – $9,000+
Justin Thomas $9,300
Now or never for Justin Thomas. Two weeks until the FedEx Cup Playoffs, and Thomas is on the outside looking in. The top 70 will make it to Memphis for the first leg of the playoffs, and Thomas needs to make up five places to get there. With the Ryder Cup on the line, I will buy that motivation alone for Thomas to get the job done. Besides that, I believe this is a very solid course for Thomas’ game.
He will not be required to roll 25 birdies which he struggles with. TPC Twin Cities is as close to a Florida golf course as it could be for being located in Minnesota. Excellent tee-to-green prowess and avoiding hazards is the name of the game. At the core, that is what Thomas does best.
Gary Woodland $9,200
This is a solid spot for Woodland’s style of play. He is an excellent ball striker who struggles on the putting greens. As I stated with Thomas, this is not a golf course that lends itself to be a bonafide birdie fest. Woodland will be able to tap into that tee-to-green prowess and hope to not be absolutely dreadful on the greens. Woodland’s only trip here was a tie for eleventh in 2021, but more importantly, it was how he putts the ball. Gary gained over three strokes on the greens, which would be more than enough to contend in this year’s event.
2023 3M Open DFS – Mid Range
Mark Hubbard $8,300
I’m not ready to hop off the Hubbard wagon. After he flamed out as chalk, he followed up with consecutive top-ten finishes and is gaining strokes in all the right ways. Hubbard has the rare ability to pop with his irons and his putter, and that is what he is doing at the moment. Hubbard’s only trip to TPC Twin Cities led to the third-best ball-striking performance of his career. Stay on Hubbard this week. He provides a high floor with top-ten equity as well.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout $7,500
I was interested to see Christiaan Bezuidenhout’s history on Florida golf courses (Target golf with a lot of water). I was pleasantly surprised to see the result. Eight cuts were made in nine events with multiple top twenty finishes. Bez is coming in off a made-cut at Royal Liverpool but is by no means trending. I think he will provide a nice under-the-radar selection to your lineups with some nice upside.
2023 3M Open DFS – 6K Range
Jason Dufner $6,300
Jason Dufner seems like a great buy at 6.3K. He is coming off a tie for 31st at the John Deere Classic and a tie for 24th at the Barbasol. Dufner gained over eight strokes ball striking in those two starts, so we know his game is in a decent spot. Make what you want to make of him making the cut in three of four trips to this event, but that surely helps his case for a play at 6.3K.
