2023 Open Championship: Props and Best Bets

The final Major of the year calls for the final blog dedicated to prop bets. Like I begin every one of these prop blogs with. Don’t force bets just because it is a major week, but throwing a few extra dollars for some fun is okay! Let’s take a look across the sports books and find some props to wager on this week. Here are my official 2023 Open Championship Props and Best Bets!

2023 Open Championship: Props and Best Bets

Big 9 Win Open -120

This is one of my favorite bets for the big events and has cashed in two of three majors so far. In this pick, we will get any of Rory, Scottie, Rahm, Cam, Brooks, Vik, Cantlay, Hatton, or Fowler to go on and win the event.

Clearly, the majors are the toughest tests of golf, and the tough conditions lend themselves to the best players in the world winning. We are getting the top players on the odds board at a very reasonable price. Let’s dial this one up.

Robert MacIntyre Top GB & Ireland Golder After Round 1 +1400

I love this spot here for Bob Mac for a few reasons. MacIntyre does his best work in difficult conditions, and we saw that as recently as this past Sunday. On the toughest day of the Scottish Open, where the field was averaging over par, Mac went out and shot the low round of the day.

After the gutting loss last week, he should be looking to come out of the gates hot in some tough conditions. Also, the three favorites in this market notoriously come out of the gates slow in but spots. Let’s hope Bob can fire a low one on Thursday and cash us a nice ticket.

Sam Burns/ Sepp Straka/ Chris Kirk Combined Hole 1 Score +1 or Worse -120

Three golfers who do not come in with great Major resumes will feel the heat on hole one. Undoubtedly, one of these guys will make a five out of the gates. I would be shocked if a player birdies this hole to lose this bet for us, so I expect this bet to cash on the +1 number.

Low LIV Player: Dustin Johnson +500

We hammered this bet at the US Open and cashed with Cam Smith, but we are moving to DJ here. I have been gearing up to run out Dustin on this golf course for a few months, and his game seems to be trending at the right time. I spoke about how perfect LACC was set up for Cam Smith, and that came to fruition.

Cam struggles with accuracy off the tee, so I do not see Royal Liverpool as a good setup for him at all. Dustin can lean into his elite off-the-tee prowess and dominate with the long and straight ball. I would not be shocked to see Dustin in one of the weekend final groups, so this +500 should be a safe play.

Rory McIlroy & Jon Rahm Top 10 +360

Rory seems to be as much of a “lock” for a high finish as ever with his history around here and current game. Although we have seen Rory struggle when everything points to him, I do not see him finishing outside the top ten this week. If Rory is going to finish inside the top ten, surely, this becomes a play on Rahm, which is great value at +360. Rahm has been a bit quiet over the last few weeks, which is both exciting and scary.

How will one of the most dominant golfers come out after not playing his best since the Masters on a golf course that he should be able to take advantage of? I like that he is going under the radar here, and I can surely see Rahmbo finishing inside the top ten.
