One more “putting contest” before we have some fun across the pond. I do believe we will get a first-time PGA Tour winner this week, but I will set up a majority of my lineups with guys who give us high floors. Let’s break down the DraftKings board and find some names that fit this narrative.
2023 John Deere Classic DFS: Best Plays in Each Price Range
2023 John Deere Classic DFS – $9,000+
Russell Henley $10,400
Very intrigued to see the narrative around Russell Henley this week. In his last start at The Travelers, he was extremely popular and did not exactly come to fruition. By no means did Henley play badly, but he did not do as well as some may have thought. This week, he heads to another short TPC track which is Henley’s jam. He is one of the best players in this weak field and is priced this high for a reason. I am willing to pay up for a trending golfer who has already won this season.
Adam Schenk $9,500
Adam Schenk is a man in form. Three top ten finishes in his last five starts including a runner-up at The Charles Schwab and a T7 in a loaded Memorial field. Schenk heads to a golf course he has had great success at and is currently in the best form of his career. I believe he will garner a decent amount of ownership at his price, but I am sure he will perform well. Play Adam Schenk above the field ownership at this week’s John Deere Classic.
2023 John Deere Classic DFS – Mid Range
Mark Hubbard $7,700
We are going to go back to Mark Hubbard one last time. He was extremely chalky these last few weeks but has missed his last few cuts. Sadly, the ball striking has taken a hit, but this is not a field that is filled with elite ball strikers. You can surely skew the data in a way where Hubbard ranks as one of the top hall strikers in this field. He finished T13 here last year and has plenty of experience at Deere Run.
Adam Svensson $7,300
Adam Svensson is not in the best of form, but he is a PGA Tour winner this season with a ceiling as high as anyone in this field. He has the rare ability to gain a ton of strokes to the field with his irons and does his best work on these style tracks. Svenny will not garner a ton of ownership and will provide some great upside to your lineups.
2023 John Deere Classic DFS – 6K Range
Erik van Rooyen
Erik van Rooyen has missed his last five cuts and has never played in this event before. Why would we play him? At 6.8K, he will garner zero ownership and has won a PGA Tour event in the last 24 months. van Rooyen is a golfer who can pop with absolutely zero forms or course history. He did the same thing at the Valspar Championship, where he gained a whopping seven strokes with his irons out of nowhere. This event will be an absolute crap shoot, so I am not nervous about going to EVR at this price point.
