2023 Zurich Classic DFS: Best Plays in Each Price Range

A nice little break from the elevated events as we head to TPC Louisiana for the Zurich Classic. The only true team event on the PGA Tour schedule. The way this event will be set up is the golfers will play their own ball on Thursday and Saturday, carding the lower number of the two on each hole. Friday and Sunday, the golfers will be playing alternate shot which is clearly the harder format of the two.

2023 Zurich Classic DFS: Best Plays in Each Price Range

2023 Zurich Classic DFS – $9,000+

Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele $11,100

Eat the chalk, and play the best team in the field. There’s no reason to bore you guys with all the numbers. The odds show that these two are head and shoulders above the pack. Being a 3/1 betting favorite is not worth the $11,100 DFS price. They should be closer to $12,000 in this event. It is odd, but there is real value in the highest-priced golfers in this event.

David Lipsky and Aaron Rai $9,000

Lipsky and Rai are a top 10 approach team in this field, but they lack on the greens. That means this team will generate a ton of birdie looks and rely on the putter to bring them home. These two golfers can pop on the greens in any given round. If they can ham and egg it this week, don’t be shocked to find them in the mix again this week, as they finished inside the top five last year at this event.

2023 Zurich Classic DFS – Middle Tier

Joel Dahmen and Denny McCarthy $8,900

This team is one of the most well-rounded of the field, as both golfers are deadly accurate off the tee, Joel Dahmen can get extremely hot with the irons, and Denny McCarthy is one of the best putters in the entire world. These two should be able to feed off each other’s skill set and find themselves in the mix come Sunday afternoon.

Underdog Deposit Bonus

Victor Perez and Thomas Detry $8,900

This is a perfect pairing for our guy Tommy Deetz. He is an elite golfer from Thursday to Saturday who struggles on Sunday. He pairs up with Victor Perez, who has been able to close the door a few times on the DP World Tour. We know Detry has all the tools to be one of the world’s better golfers. Hopefully, Perez will be able to guide him to the top on a Sunday.

2023 Zurich Classic DFS – <$7,000

Tano Goya and Trevor Werbylo $6,700

Goya has been an absolute cut-maker for us these past few events, and that will be huge in this event as only the top 33 teams and ties make the cut rather than 65 in ties in a normal event.

In a small sample size (12 rounds), Goya and Werbylo rank fifth in this entire field in strokes gained tee to green behind team Cantlay-Schauffele, Fitz-Fitz, Olsen-Hojgaard, and Dahmen-McCarthy. Those are some big names for Goya and Werbylo to be bunched in with, so we will play the hottest golfers in the lowest range and hope they make it through the cut for us.
