Emmanuel Forbes – NFL Rookie Draft Profile
Height – 6’1″
Weight – 166 pounds
Forbes is an athlete. He has the height to compete with bigger corners but lacks the weight to bring them down. He excels in Man Coverage, where he limited opponents to a 20% reception rate. In his three years at Mississippi State, he received the following accolades:
AP All-Bowl Team
247Sports True Freshman All-America (DB)
Freshman All-SEC (DB)
Phil Steele All-SEC Second Team
2022 Second-Team All-America (AP)
Defensive Back Pros
You can see his fluidity on tape and some acrobatics. The combination just reaffirmed it.
He was PFF’s #1 rated cornerback in man coverage out of the entire 2023 eligible class, allowing only three catches with 6 yards after the catch and a 20% reception percentage.
He ran a 4.35 sec 40 at the combine, and you see that speed translate on the field.
Defensive Back Cons
Missed too many tackles for my liking.
His weight is likely the issue with his tackling. No matter how good your technique is (which he isn’t), 166 pounds just isn’t going to get it done all the time.
The bad is the whiff again, Louisiana Tech, ouch.
