BJ Ojulari – NFL Rookie Draft Profile
Background
Height – 6’2″
Weight – 248 pounds
One of the smaller defensive ends in the class but has the pass-rush moves to be effective at the next level. This is evident by his pressure rate over the past two seasons. He does, however, need to develop as a rush defender. He was awarded the important number 18, which signifies the player who exudes LSU football and is a team player.
Defensive Line Pros
Pursuit – Ojulari is a versatile defender and can read the run down the line of scrimmage. Very good at closing and hitting the gap.
Spin Move– He has a very effective spin move. Put it on display a couple of times against Ole Miss.
Counter – Ojulari has a nice array of pass-rushing moves to counter with. Good to have a repertoire that he can use accordingly.
Defensive Line Cons
Size – He is not a dominant build for a DE. He’s both short and lighter weight.
4-3 – He will need to transition to being able to play with his hand in the ground. A lot of standup alignments.
Run Defense – Ojulari, and his size will likely limit him unless he puts on weight. Powerful run-blocking guards will manhandle him at the NFL level.
