College Basketball Futures To Bet Right Now

Creighton Blue Jays

I couldn’t scream, “BUY the Creighton Blue Jays,” loud enough right now. Now, if you follow me or listen to The College Basketball Experience you may have heard me in the preseason knocking Greg McDermott‘s squad. That’s true, that happened, but only because there was way too much hype around them. Now the Blue Jays are flying under the radar.

Let’s go back to the Maui Jim Maui Invitational in Maui, Hawaii during Feast Week. Creighton beat Arkansas in the semi-finals and it was one of the most exciting games we will see this season. They were 6-0 and playing in the tournament’s championship game. The Blue Jays lost an 81-79 nail-biter to No. 5 Arizona who is currently 19-3. When the boys returned to mainland USA they endured five more straight losses. Creighton suffered a midseason 6-game losing streak. Everybody that loved their squad in the preseason shunned them.

Creighton To Win The Big East +475 WynnBET

After the loss at home to in-state rival Nebraska, Creighton’s center and best player, Ryan Kalkbrenner was diagnosed with Mononucleosis. Kalkbrenner is putting up 15.1 points, and 6.9 rebounds per game this year. The Blue Jay’s big man missed three weeks of action. From the day he returned, December 22nd, barttorvik.com has Creighton power ranked fifth in the nation.

Creighton isn’t just a one-man show. Baylor Scheierman, a transfer from South Dakota State is a star. He sports the classic skinny white kid in a headband look. In conference play, Scheierman is averaging 14.6 PPG, 6.9 RPG, and 4.0 APG.

The schedule in the Big East is never easy. However, six of Creighton’s ten remaining conference games are against teams with losing records in the Big East. The Blue Jays are one game back in the current standings. One of the teams ahead of the Blue Jays is Xavier. The Musketeers’ 2nd leading scorer and leading rebounder, Zach Freemantle, will be out for the next month with a foot injury. It’s a calculated risk but a risk worth taking when the return could be five times your dollar.

ALSO: McDermott’s Blue Jays have reached the Big East Conference Tournament final in 5 of 10 tries, they’ve never won the championship. This could be the year. When those odds drop, if they’re above +250, I’ll also have that future in my portfolio too.

Creighton To Make The Final Four +1200 WynnBET

Remember that kenpom.com National Championship trend? Since the website was created in 2002 there have been 19 national champs crowned. All 19 teams have been ranked inside KenPom’s Top 40 in offensive efficiency, and Top 25 defensive efficiency metrics. It’s a great trend to use when searching for nice college basketball futures.

Currently, Creighton ranks 16th in offensive and 21st in defensive efficiency. Creighton also takes great care of the ball ranking 33rd out of 363 teams in offensive turnover percentage. Of course, over the next 39 days, it could change, but the stats tell you that outside of their 6-game losing streak, Creighton has steadied the ship, and the consistency is there. The Blue Jays are ready to start peaking at the right time.

Kansas State Wildcats

Do you want to bet on a feel-good story? I present to you Kansas State.

Let’s start with the head coach Jerome Tang. For 15 years Tang was an assistant coach under Baylor’s Scott Drew. In 2021 Tang and the Bears dominated Gonzaga in the Championship game to win the National Title.

Entering the January 17th tilt Kansas head coach Bill Self was 38-6 in his Jayhawk career vs Kansas State. Coach Tang and his Wildcats defeated the big bad blue blood in their first attempt. The city of Manhattan stormed the court. Tang stood up at the press table and addressed the crowd with an unbelievable mic-drop statement.

Not only is it easy to love coach Tang, but one of his superstar players is Senior Keyontae Johnson. If you didn’t know, back in 2020 Johnson was the SEC Preseason Player of the Year for Florida but collapsed during the season due to a heart issue in the middle of a game. Similar to Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin, Johnson woke up in a medically induced coma in the hospital.

The Gators’ medical staff ruled Johnson unable to play for the rest of his career. The NCAA has an injury policy that is provided to players who could play professionally but have to medically retire. Johnson declined the $5 million insurance policy, took a huge risk, and transferred to Kansas State. He did it for his love of the game. Now he’s averaging 18.9 PPG, 9.1 RPG, and 1.9 APG in the best conference in basketball.

Kansas State To Win The Big 12 +900 WynnBET

Kansas State was predicted to finish last in Big 12 preseason polls. Now the Wildcats have two of the five best players in the conference on their team. Their Senior point guard Markquis Nowell is in the conversation for Big 12 Player of the Year. The Harlem, New York native is averaging 21.3 PPG, 4.0 RPG, and 7.7 APG in Big 12 play.

The Big 12 is the toughest conference in college basketball. There isn’t one cupcake on the schedule and every team has a unique style of play. Kansas State has nine conference games left: five at home and four on the road.

K-State is 11-0 at home this season. Their four road games remaining are against Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia. Those four teams are all ranked 7th-10th in the 10-team conference. BartTorvik gives the Wildcats a 20% chance to win the conference title. Knowing the schedule ahead of Tang’s team it’s a great calculated risk for a 10/1 return.

Kansas State To Make The Final Four +900 WynnBET

On January 31st the defending National Champs, Kansas, got their revenge with a win against the Wildcats. It presents a spot for us to buy low on both of Kansas State’s conference and Final Four prices. On KenPom K-State owns the 35th-best offensive efficiency. KSU also ranks 28th in defensive efficiency. Jerome Tang’s team is just outside of the Top-25 threshold for the defensive metric but they still have a month to improve on that number.

With a starting five made up of three Seniors, and two Juniors playing in the deepest conference we’ve ever seen (all 10 teams rank inside KenPom’s Top 62) the Wildcats are experienced, battle-tested, and primed for a deep run this March. Especially if they receive a 2-seed as we projected in The College Basketball Experience’s latest Bracketology episode.

Big 12 +900, Final Four +900
