2022 NFL Two-Round Mock Draft - Jeremy Popielarz 1.0

With the 2022 NFL Draft only a few weeks away it’s mock draft time! I went through and assessed all teams’ needs, and predicted the first two rounds of the NFL Draft. With many top playmakers in this class, there are a lot of questions. Who is the first tackle taken? Or who is the first wide receiver off the board? Could it be Garrett Wilson or Drake London? Possibly even Treylon Burks. Will Aidan Hutchinson or Kayvon Thibodeaux be the first edge rusher off the board?

When sitting down to work through this year’s draft I was looking to find the best fit for these teams. I wanted to fill positions of need as well as get the best value. Due to this, I selected the best player available at a position of need for the team on the clock. Also, I factored in some of the coaching tendencies and player fit as well when possible. This resulted in a draft full of surprises possibly even with the first pick!

2	Lions	This is an easy walk to the podium keep the top pass rusher in Michigan. I hope he likes the taste of knee caps!
3	Texans	Ikem Ekwonu	OT	NC State
3	Texans	Texans stay committed to Davis Mills here and add their top tackle in Ekwonu here giving help some seriously need OL help.
4	Jets	Travon Walker	DE	Georgia
4	Jets	With Josh Allen in their division the Jets add a Monster at DE who can run with the best of them
5	Giants	Kayvon Thibodeaux	DE	Oregon
5	Giants	Adding the once top pass rusher in this class here makes sense for a team who is in desperate need of a pass rush.
6	Panthers	Kenny Pickett	QB	Pittsburgh
6	Panthers	With Ruhle possibly on the hot seat adding a day one starting caliber QB makes the most sense here over a project QB in Willis.
7	Giants via CHI	Charles Cross	OT	Mississippi St.
7	Giants via CHI	With new HC Brian Daboll the Giants need to add a solid pass protecting OT, there is no better one in the draft than Cross.
8	Falcons	Drake London	WR	USC
8	Falcons	The Falcons need WR help badly, so why not add a slender version of AJ Brown for Arthur Smith's offense.
9	Seahawks via DEN	Ahmad Gardner	CB	Cincinnati
9	Seahawks via DEN	Now in a rebuild Seattle needs a lot of pieces, no better way to start than a lock down corner.
10	Jets via SEA	Garrett Wilson	WR	Ohio State
10	Jets via SEA	The Jets tried upgrading the WR position last season but failed. Adding another top notch WR for Zach Wilson is key here.
11	Washington	Kyle Hamilton	S	Notre Dame
11	Washington	Although WR is enticing here, the Commanders can't pass up the top Safety in this class here, another position of great need.
12	Vikings	Derek Stingley Jr.	CB	LSU
12	Vikings	The Vikings are in desperate need of some defense backfield help. Derek Stingley Jr. can step in day one and be a playmaker for them.

13	Texans via CLE	The Texans need help everywhere, so building the trenches is a great place to start.
14	Ravens	Jordan Davis	DT	Georgia
14	Ravens	It wouldn't be a true draft if the Ravens did not add a defensive freak to their roster, they get that along with interior defensive line help with Davis.

15	Eagles via MIA/i>	The Eagles still need a complement to DeVonta Smith, they get that with this burner out of Alabama.

16	Saints	With a team in need of a rebuild the Saints add a key position in that rebuild here, OT with the first of their two picks in this round.

17	Chargers	The Chargers have already started bolstering the defensive line so why not add some more help here with this high effort DT to the mix.
18	Eagles via MIA	Devin Lloyd	LB	Utah
18	Eagles via MIA	No doubt the Eagles could use a LB, they get to add the top LB on the board here with their second pick in this round.
19	Saints	Matt Corral	QB	Ole Miss
19	Saints	The Saints need a future franchise QB, they get that in this California kid. Keeping him in the Bayou region a little longer.
20	Steelers	Malik Willis	QB	Liberty
20	Steelers	Mike Tomlin gets his new franchise QB here. He's not ready to start this season giving the Steelers time to bolster the offensive line and retool the defense.
21	Patriots	Jermaine Johnson	DE	Florida State
21	Patriots	Just like the Jets earlier the Patriots add an edge defender to help contain Josh Allen.
22	Packers via LV	Treylon Burks	WR	Arkansas
22	Packers via LV	Aaron Rodgers gets his Davante Adams replacement in this physical monster out of Arkansas. Also, Matt Lafleur can't stop thinking about what he will be able to do with this versatile weapon.
23	Cardinals	Trent McDuffie	CB	Washington
23	Cardinals	CB is a clear position of need for the Cardinals who must face now triple crown winning Cooper Kupp twice a year. They add the top CB available here.
24	Cowboys	Kenyon Green	IOL	Texas A&M
24	Cowboys	The Cowboys get their immediate replacement for McGovern at LG.
25	Bills	Andrew Booth Jr.	CB	Clemson
25	Bills	There was a clear hole in the Bills defense last season down the stretch when star Tre'Davious White went down. They address that here in round one and add a physical corner to the mix.
26	Titans	Chris Olave	WR	Ohio State
26	Titans	After the Julio Jones experiment failed last year. The Titans need a youthful wide receiver who can add some speed to the group. They get this with the well-polished and speedy Olave here.
27	Buccaneers	Zion Johnson	IOL	Boston College
27	Buccaneers	The Buccaneers lost star guard Alex Cappa in FA so adding another potential star in the versatile Johnson in the first round makes the most sense for a team needing to protect a 44-year-old QB.
28	Packers	David Ojabo	DE	Michigan
28	Packers	With their second pick in this round the Packers address another position of need DE, adding a player who needs recovery time after an Achilles injury in his pro day. However, once this recovery is over he could be a steal this late in the draft.
29	Chiefs via 49ers via MIA	Jahan Dotson	WR	Penn State
29	Chiefs via 49ers via MIA	With the first of two picks in a row for the Chiefs they address the departure of Tyreek Hill with this polished route runner out of Penn state.
30	Chiefs	Kaiir Elam	CB	Florida
30	Chiefs	In a now pass heavy division, with the Broncos, Raiders, and Chargers. The Chiefs must address their need at CB if they have any hope of repeating as division champions again.

31	Bengals	A year later and the Bengals still need to address the OL, however the top center falls right into their lap here at 31!

32	Lions via LAR	With one of the picks they acquired from the Stafford trade the Lions address their need for a new face of the franchise. They get this with the raw but extremely talent quarterback out of Cincinnati.

35	Jets	If the Jets plan to compete in the AFC soon, they will need to go through a lot of high-flying passing offense. So, they address a need at CB here with the top CB left.
36	Giants	Nakobe Dean	LB	Georgia
36	Giants	The Giants need help at the second level of their defense, they can address that here with this versatile linebacker coming out of Georgia.

37	Texans	After Bolstering the OL and DL in round one the Texans add a weapon for Davis Mills and the offense. Also I am sure they do not want to trot Marlon Mack and Rex Burkhead out there week one.

39	Bears	The Bears must find a replacement for Allen Robinson, this could not only be that. It could be an upgrade, adding this versatile athlete to a young developing offense could pay off big time!

40	Seahawks via DEN	Seattle counties this rebuild in the trenches with the first of its two picks in a row. They add what could be a corner stone tackle to a very needy unit.
41	Seahawks	Sam Howell	QB	North Carolina
41	Seahawks	They then add the QB of the future or present. Sam Howell will come in day one and get the chance to compete with Drew Lock to become the first successor of Russell Wilson.
42	Colts via WAS	Skyy Moore	WR	Western Michigan
42	Colts via WAS	The Colts need more playmakers at the WR position. They get the chance to address that here with the shifty/ physical Skyy Moore.
43	Falcons	Jaquan Brisker	S	Penn State
43	Falcons	The Falcons have a grocery store list of needs. They address one here with this versatile and tough Safety.
44	Browns	Logan Hall	DL	Houston
44	Browns	The Browns need to bolster the trenches on the DL. In a division with a few run heavy teams they add a violent interior rusher who could also line up outside if needed.

45	Ravens	Baltimore help is on the way, this run plugging DT will help sure up the interior of the DL!

46	Vikings	Minnesota counties to address the defense in round two. They add a heavy handed and explosive rusher who could develop into a force on the DL.

50	Chiefs via MIA	Kansas City continues to address the defense with the first of two picks in the second round adding a playmaker to the second level of their defense.

53	Packers via LV	Every good organization knows the trenches are where championships are won. The Packers are one of those, they add a playmaker with a high motor who needs some refinement to the group here.

54	Patriots	After losing a majority of their LB group the Patriots get this downhill thumper who can also cover when called upon.

55	Cardinals	The Cardinals continue the defensive approach in this draft as they add a edge rusher to help bolster their DL.

56	Cowboys	Dallas has a clear need for and Edge defender with Randy Gregory moving on to Denver. They get that here with what a player who profiles as pure pass rusher.

57	Bills	The Bills address the need at the RB position here adding a elusive and powerful runner.
58	Falcons via TEN	Darian Kinnard	OT	Kentucky
58	Falcons via TEN	Adding this three-year starter to the rotation will be wise for the Falcons as they continue their rebuild. He will bring a nastiness to this offensive line, similar to Taylor Lewan a former Arthur Smith Tackle.

59	Packers	Don't look now but the packers just spent two top 64 picks on weapons for Aaron Rodgers. Consider it a gift after trading away his top WR. Either way they add to a position of need for them by adding the top TE in this class.

60	Buccaneers	Tampa Bay has an aging DL, they get the chance to add some youth here with this high motor defender who has nice size and lean. He can come in and learn a thing or two from Jason Pierre-Paul.

61	49ers	The 49ers use their first selection on a position of need on the defensive side of the ball by adding the top CB left on the board at this point.

62	Chiefs	Even after fixing up the left side of the offensive line and nailing their pick of Creed Humphrey, this OL still needs help. They get that here with a potential RG starter as he does lack some fundamentals to succeed at RT in the NFL.

63	Bengals	The Bengals improved their DL last year in FA, however, there is still a need for some youth. They can get this with a versatile defender who can play heavier and move inside if needed.
