CBB Picks: College Basketball Best Bets For Sunday, February 20th
Michigan 14-10 (10-14 ATS) at Wisconsin 20-5 (14-11 ATS)
Time: 1:00 p.m. EST
TV: CBS
Line: Wisconsin -2
Total: 139
The biggest game of the day will take place in the Big Ten. Wisconsin’s Johnny Davis (20.7 PPG, 8.3 RPG) is a consensus top-three national player of the year candidate and he and the Badgers will host Michigan inside the Kohl Center. The Badgers are 2-4 ATS in their last six games and the over has hit in their last 11 of 15 games. The Wolverines roll into Madison winning seven of their last ten games straight up. Michigan is 6-2 SU in their last eight games played against Wisconsin, and with the over hitting in 12 of their last 17 games played.
Wolverines head coach Juwan Howard has his guys improving their level of play at the right time of the year. The team is currently in Joe Lunardi’s “Last Four In” and a win against CBS Mock Tournament 4 seed could cement them into the big dance. Greg Gard and his Badgers look to halt the train on the tracks with their defensive style of play. The key to this game is whether Wisconsin can hold Michigan to pedestrian numbers shooting the 3ball. The Badgers must accept that either 7footer Hunter Dickinson will score 15 points or emerging 6-foot-10 freshman Moussa Diabate will score 15. Even though Dickinson is a tremendous distributor of the basketball, if guys like G Eli Brooks, and freshman five-star guard Caleb Houstan can’t hit outside shots this game could play right into coach Gard’s cards.
College Basketball Best Bets: Wisconsin -2
Missouri St. 20-8 (16-12 ATS) at Northern Iowa 15-10 (11-14 ATS)
Time: 2:00 p.m. EST
TV: ESPNU
Line: Missouri State +2.5
Total: 143
This is a great matchup in the Missouri Valley Conference. Missouri State’s 6-foot-5 point guard, Isiaih Mosley, is having a crazy good year shooting 50% from the field and averaging 20 points, and six rebounds a game. On the other side of the ball, Northern Iowa’s 6-foot-4 guard AJ Green who averages 18.4 PPG, and shoots 38% from 3pt, and 93% from FT.
The Panthers won the prior meeting this year in an 85-84 nailbiter. Mosley led the game in scoring with 43 for the Bears, while also snatching 9 boards. The next highest scorer in the game was guess who… Green, he dropped 34 in the winning effort. Missouri State ranks 21st in the country for effective FG% (54.9%) and Northern Iowa is 309th in the country in opponent shooting percentage (53%). according to KenPom. I like the revenge angle here for the Bears.
College Basketball Best Bets: Missouri State +2.5
Purdue Fort Wayne 17-10 (16-9 ATS) at Milwaukee 9-19 (11-17 ATS)
Time: 2:00 p.m. EST
TV: ESPN+
Line: Purdue Fort Wayne -3.5
Total: 134.5
We go back to the state of Wisconsin for another college basketball best bet as Purdue Fort Wayne comes to town. IPFW is 5-1 ATS in their last six and the under has hit in six of their last eight games. The Mastodons are efficient on offense and create a ton of turnovers. IPFW is 30th in the country in defensive turnover rate, and Milwaukee is 239th in offensive turnover rate according to KenPom.
Calling all cars! Patrick Baldwin Jr. hasn’t played a game since December 13th for Milwaukee. Without Baldwin Jr., his dad Patrick Baldwin Sr. has one of the most disappointing teams in all of college basketball this season. This is an easy fade of the Panthers as Vegas still hasn’t adjusted. Jarred Godfrey (15.2 PPG) and the Mastodons wipe the floor of the Panthers.
College Basketball Best Bets: Purdue Fort Wayne -3.5
Marquette 17-9 (15-11 ATS) at Creighton (12-12-1 ATS)
Time: 3:00 p.m. EST
TV: FS1
Line: Creighton -2
Total: 140
Creighton currently sits in Joe Lunardi’s “Last Four In” and desperately need a win against a quadrant 1 team. The Blue Jays are 9-3 straight up at home this season and Marquette is 4-5 straight up on the road. This Big East tilt is just another classic handicap of what team needs a win more. Creighton has four guys that all average over 10 points per game so expect them to spread the wealth in an attempt to burst their bubble.
College Basketball Best Bets: Creighton -2
Washington St 14-11 (11-14 ATS) at USC 22-4 (13-13 ATS)
Time: 7:30 p.m. EST
TV: FS1
Line: USC -5.5
Total: 131.5
The Washington State Cougars visit Los Angeles to battle with the USC Trojans Sunday night. In their last 10 matchups USC is 8-2 ATS against WSU. The Trojans defense is 7th in the country in opponent field goal percentage as opponents only shoot 43% from the field against them according to KenPom. Washington State’s offense on paper doesn’t show any signs in changing that as they rank 260th nationally in effective FG% (48%). The first time these two teams played Isaiah Mobley only scored nine points. With a better outing from Mobley the Trojans will stay tied for 2nd in the PAC 12 conference.
College Basketball Best Bets: USC -5.5
