Genesis Invitational DraftKings: Best Golf DFS Plays in Each Price Range

Genesis Invitational DraftKings: Best Golf DFS Plays in Each Price Range

After an exciting and beer-drenched WM Phoenix Open, we had to Los Angeles for the Genisis invitational hosted by Tiger Woods. This week really has it all, a difficult and intriguing golf course, the top 10 players in the world, and some really good prices on excellent players. It all makes for an exciting setup for these Genesis Invitational DraftKings picks.

Before I go any further into this event, I want to pat myself on the back for a second. Last week I gave you amazing DFS plays. I wrote up the winner of the event, Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas T8, Tom Hoge T14, and Adam Hadwin t26, and put Talor Gooch T21 in the optimal lineup. Seeing the board well right now so let’s stay hot.

The most exciting thing about this week is that Rivera Country Club is a difficult track that tests even the best golfers in the world. With its lightning-fast Poa Greens, small doglegged fairways, and thick rough, it is no surprise the winning score at this event has averaged just 12 under par over the past 4 years.

We literally have the top 10 golfers in the world teeing it up this week, Jon Rahm, Patrick Cantlay, Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, and Rory McIlroy just to name a few. It is the first time in a while that we are getting great DFS prices on some really elite talent.

Riviera Country Club Course Report:

  • Par: 71 (4 Par 3s, 11 Par 4s , 3 Par 5s)
  • Yardage: 7,332
  • Greens: Poa
  • Architect: George Thomas
  • Average Winning Score L4 years: -12

Key Stats

  • SG: Approach
  • SG Around the Green (more than most weeks)
  • SG: Putting (Fast Poa)
  • SG: Driving
  • Bogey Avoidance
  • Good Drives Gained
  • Proximity to hole 150-175

Without further ado, lets get into my favorite Genesis Invitational DraftKings plays this week.

Genesis Invitational DraftKings: Best Golf DFS Plays in Each Price Range

$10,000 Range

Patrick Cantlay 11,000

In my opinion the most consistent golfer on tour, Patrick is primed for a win soon. Coming in first in my model this week, Patrick ranks 3rd in SG: OTT, 2nd in Bogey Avoidance, 14th SG: P, and 21st in good drives gained.

The fact that Cantlay has no weaknesses in his game, should really shine at an event where par is at a premium. Cantlay just does not make a lot of mistakes, he can place the ball wherever he wants off the tee, can get up and down for par, and is a California kid! Patty Ice is a great Genesis Invitational DraftKings play this week

$9,000 Range

Cameron Smith $9,100

Impeccable short game, best putter on tour, off a win, taking down the number player in the world, I love Cam Smith this week. Smith has proven that he can contend on this course, given his 4th place finish last year where gained over 10 strokes tee to green.

Smith easily has the best short game on tour, the man can get up and down from anywhere. Also, people want to point out comps to Augusta National, Cam Smith has excelled there and will win the 2022 Masters. This Aussie is the best 9K DFS play.

$8,000 Range

Matt Fitzpatrick $8,100

You play Matt Fitzpatrick in difficult scoring conditions, you play Matt Fitzpatrick on courses he has excelled on, you play Matt Fitzpatrick when he is in form. All those boxes are checked this week and I think Fitz is destined to post a high finish this week.

Coming off a 6th and a 10th place finishes the last two weeks, Fitzpatrick is hitting the ball great right now. He gained 11.7 total strokes at Pebble and 8.9 last week at Phoenix. He is gaining in all major categories, which shows how well-rounded his game is. Fitz finished 5th place at this event last year, seriously he is my favorite Genesis Invitational DraftKings play this week.

$7,000 Range

Lanto Griffin

Excellent recent form, cut maker at this event, Lanto Griffin my favorite 7K DFS play this week. Lanto is a guy who hasn’t missed a cut in his last 7 PGA Tour starts and has had some great finishes mixed in. 16th at Pebble Beach, 3rd at the AmEx, and a 6th place finish at the ZOZO.

Another thing to like about Lanto is that the has finished within the top 30 in two starts at Riviera. He was able to gain over 2.5 strokes putting both times. These greens are very difficult, so I very much like the fact he has figured them out.

$6,000 Range

Branden Grace $6,600

Grace is a golfer that tends to excel in difficult conditions, and that is why I like him in DFS this week. This South African holds the record for the lowest score to par in a round in major history. Mix that in with a 20th place finish at this event last year, he can excel here.

Grace gained 4.2 strokes on approach at this event last year and has proven that he can scramble for par, and find his way through to the weekend.

Genesis Invitational DraftKings Optimal Lineup:

Patrick Cantlay $11,000

Cam Smith $9,100

Matt Fitzpatrick $8,100

Marc Leishman $7,900

Lanto Griffin $7,200

Branden Grace $6,600
