The return of the Unified Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua tops the latest edition of our Big Fight Weekend Podcast.
Host T J Rives is back with his guests, as Joshua gets set to put his WBA, IBF and WBO World titles on the line against Bulgarian contender Kubrat Pulev. It’s the first time that Joshua, 23-1, 21 KOs has been in the ring since December of 2019, when he recaptured his belts in a rematch decision win over American Andy Ruiz.
First off, T J talks with Britain’s David Payne, aka “The Boxing Writer” for some perspective from England on this heavyweight Saturday night showdown. Payne, who operates his own site Boxingwriter.co.uk, gives thoughts on how the 39 year-old Pulev might have a chance to stick with the much younger and harder punching Joshua?
Joshua is currently -900 at Mybookie.ag to successfully retain his titles.
In all likelihood, Joshua should be able to win impressively and potentially set up an Undisputed Heavyweight battle with WBC World Champ, Tyson Fury in 2021.
Next up TJ is joined by Marques Johns, Senior writer big fight weekend.com and the guys go through all of the prominent fight cards for the weekend.
In addition to the Joshua-Pulev card in London, Marquis has the latest on the Top Rank Boxing card in Las Vegas that includes rising star, Junior Lightweight, Shakur Stevenson, in the main event. Stevenson, a former Olympic hero for the U.S. and also the former WBO Featherweight World Champ is moving up to 130 lb. in this fight. It’s also a solid undercard that Marquis previews.
And, the guys also have the latest on the Premier Boxing Champions card that will take place at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, where another unbeaten Junior Lightweight contender, Chris Colbert is in action headlining.
