It’s a brand new edition of the show and host T.J. Rives is joined by four division World Champ, Leo Santa Cruz, who’s getting ready for his PPV showdown with Gerovonta Davis for the WBA World Lightweight Title next weekend
And, it’s also time to get ready for some Friday night title fights in Mexico City!
First, T.J. gets the latest from Santa Cruz (above) on his preparation to move up in weight, again, and fight the unbeaten and dangerous Davis at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio next weekend. Santa Cruz shares some general strategy and also why he believes it will be his biggest night as a pro.
Next up, Marquis Johns, Sr. Writer of BigFightWeekend.com, is back on the show. And, he and T.J. start first with their breakdowns of last Saturday night’s Teofimo Lopez World Lightweight Title upset of Vasiliy Lomachenko last Saturday night. Lopez was brilliant, but what was up with Loma? And, there was more questionable judging in this one, as well.
Next, they also discuss the strange silence and absence of any public comments from former WBC Heavyweight champ, Deontay Wilder, who will apparently let new champ, Tyson Fury, fight someone else in December? How bad is the chaos behind the scenes in Wilder’s camp and is he really injured and that’s the real holdup with his return to the ring?
Finally, Marquis and T.J. go over the tremendous smaller weight fight card featuring Juan Estrada and Roman “Chocolatito (Little Chocolate)” Gonzalez in separate Super Flyweight (115 lb.) World Title defenses on the same card Friday night in Mexico City. These fights will stream in the U.S. on the DAZN streaming service.
Both Estrada -675 and “Chocolatito” -1700 are significant favorites Friday. And, these guys hope to fight each other in early 2021.
Marquis also has the preview of the “PBC on Showtime” card from Connecticut featuring welterweight contender Sergey Lipinets in action Saturday night.
