DraftKings Monday Night Showdown Picks: Atlanta vs. Green Bay

The NFL showdown between Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan may not have the same luster it once did. Despite the shine being off the apple, both quarterbacks remain among the elite in DraftKings Showdown Picks Monday Night. Therefore, any game featuring these two will be full of fantasy points. Many of these will come from the usual suspects such as Aaron Jones, Julio Jones, etc… But, given these experienced quarterbacks knack for exploiting the talent around them, many more will come from off the grid.

Since 2014, over their last four regular season meetings, the teams have combined for 256 total points. The current over/under for this game is set anywhere between 56.5 and 57.5, which they have hit the over in three of the four. The Falcons have not had as much trouble scoring as they have winning. The Packers have had no trouble doing either. We are set for a wild fantasy ride, so get ready for points aplenty this Monday night.

As always, the players below are not meant to be considered a “core four.” These are simply players to consider as you are building your lineups. Play one, play them all, it is entirely up to you. Our job is to help you see the reasoning behind selecting these players and how they can help you win. We wish you luck on your DraftKings Showdown Picks Monday Night.

Russell Gage – Captain $9,300; Flex $6,200: WR Atlanta

The phrase, “upside,” is tossed around every day in the fantasy world. Sometimes it is used to indicate a player’s potential to have a productive week. Other times, it is used to describe his talent and how that will manifest. With Gage, you get both. Don’t let his disappointing week three scare you, there is still potential for a solid outing against the Packers.

Week one can be considered a ceiling game for the young wideout. He caught 9 of 11 targets for 114 yards in a shootout with the Seattle Seahawks. He managed to accomplish this even with both Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley on the field. Each of them were targeted 12 times. Each also caught 9 of them for over 100 yards. With both Jones and Ridley trending towards playing on Monday night, Gage has proven he can still be in the mix regardless.

This should be another game in which the Falcons will be fighting to keep pace. The Packers and Aaron Rodgers are coming off a thrilling back and forth contest against the Saints. The same emotion will likely spill into this matchup giving every offensive weapon added value. In a game where Drew Brees had no Michael Thomas, he still managed to throw for almost 300 yards. If either Jones or Ridley miss this game, Gage becomes an even bigger threat. Keep an eye on the injury reports, but be ready to fire up Gage for your lineup.

Robert Tonyan – Captain $6,900; Flex $4,600: TE Green Bay

In a game with no Davante Adams, Aaron Rodgers was forced to get creative. That creativity was helped along by a strong effort by Tonyan. He has emerged as the Packers’ top tight end and a new threat for Green Bay.

Last week he caught all five of his targets for 50 yards and a touchdown. The Falcons defense he faces this week, allowed Jimmy Graham to look like his former self last week. Graham caught six passes for 60 yards and two touchdowns against the Atlanta defense.

Adam’s enters this Monday as a game time decision. Should he go, Tonyan takes a slight hit in value. But, even if Rodgers’ number one target is on the field, his tight end could still make an impact. Allen Lazard has found his way on the injured reserve list which frees up more targets for Tonyan. Either way, his price makes him a great tournament play this week.

Mason Crosby – Captain $6,000; Flex $4,200: K Green Bay

Thursday night, the kicker strategy was one that won you some cash. Sam Ficken and Brandon McManus scored 18 points out of the flex position. McManus hit three field goal including two from outside of 50 yards. Ficken hit on five with one from beyond 50 yards. If you rostered both, you had a shot at taking down a tournament.

Crosby has posted double digit fantasy points in every game this season. With the rate at which the Packers have been scoring week in and week out, Crosby is just as valuable as any third option wideout or running back.

His accuracy and ability to hit from 50+ is worth the investment here. Not to mention, having Crosby on your roster allows you to go after the bigger point getters on the slate.

Brian Hill – Captain $4,200; Flex $2,800: RB Atlanta

If you want a punt play, you are reading the wrong article. Even in showdown slates, every player you roster should carry some value. Hill is priced as a punt play, but brings with him the potential to produce far more than you paid for him. Hill has established himself as the backup to Todd Gurley over Ito Smith. Instantly, he gains appeal as a tournament play this week.

Against the Bears, he carried the ball nine times for 58 yards finding the endzone on one of them. He also added a single catch on three targets for 22 yards. This game is shaping up to be a track meet which means it will be a hands on deck if the Falcons hope to keep pace. Expect Hill to get enough touches to justify his roster spot. Even better is his bargain bin price all but guarantees you a stacked lineup without the risk of taking a zero.
