NBA Futures: LA Teams Lead Western Conference Odds

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers will clash on the hardwood on the first night of the NBA’s return to action on Thursday, July 30 in Orlando, and those teams lead the way on the latest odds to win the Western Conference at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

The Lakers, who entered the league pause with a conference-leading record of 49-14, are the +135 favorites at sports betting sites to claim the conference crown and advance to the NBA Finals, while the Clippers are the +180 second favorites on those futures. The Clippers sat 5.5 games behind the Lakers at the pause, with a mark of 44-20.

That puts those two Los Angeles teams well ahead of the rest of the pack on the Western Conference champion odds, with the Houston Rockets third on that futures list at +650. James Harden and company trailed the pack in sixth place in the Western standings at the pause at 40-24, putting them 9.5 games back of the Lakers.

It’s then the Denver Nuggets fourth at +1000 on those NBA odds, with the Dallas Mavericks at +1800, and the Utah Jazz at +2600. The Nuggets sit third in the Western Conference standings with the season set to resume at 43-22, with the Jazz fourth with a 41-23 mark. The Mavericks, though, are seventh at 40-27 and have yet to officially clinch a Western playoff berth heading into the league restart. The 40-24 Oklahoma City Thunder, who sit fifth in the standings and have clinched a playoff berth, are still set back at +4500 on the Western odds.

The New Orleans Pelicans, who will be looking to surge past the Memphis Grizzlies (+10000) and Portland Trail Blazers (+6000) to grab the eighth and final Western playoff berth this summer, are set at +4000 on the betting futures. The Phoenix Suns (+20000), Sacramento Kings (+20000), and San Antonio Spurs (+25000) round out the futures as the longshots.

The NBA restart gets underway on July 30 with that Clippers vs Lakers matchup along with the Jazz taking on the Pelicans. The seeding round will run until August 14, after which the playoffs will get underway with the regular allotment of eight Western teams in that field.
