Summary
I stand by podcast take, that being that this gameweek will be short on goals. If you can anyone offering a market for under 30 EPL goals week, I’d been keen to get some decent money on it. The relegation picture shouldn’t change much this weekend if my predictions are in the right ball park, as I don’t have anyone in the entire bottom half winning their games.
My Leicester vs City prediction probably stands out as a surprise pick for many, however, not when you factor in City’s upcoming fixtures. This is essentially the most meaningless of the bunch, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a number of big stars wrapped in cotton wool. Leicester are a huge dog at around the 7/2 mark. Meanwhile, look Manchester United and Wolves to aid their top 4 credentials on Sunday, with Liverpool edging closer to the title on Monday night.
Game of the Week: Chelsea vs Tottenham
Jose returns to Chelsea for this Master vs Apprentice rematch, won by the apprentice last time out. While the fixture is of special significance for the Special One, Saturday’s game could also be a crucial contest in the race for a top 4 finish, as just one-point separates Chelsea in 4th from Spurs in 5th.
With both clubs carrying plenty of problems in forward areas in Saturday’s fixture, I expect their respective defences to take centre stage, with Jose Mourinho likely to set his team up defensively – much like he often does for big matches – meaning goals are expected to be hard to come by.
Prediction-
Games between Chelsea and Spurs have been tight in recent meetings, with under 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four encounters, and with the aforementioned attacking absentees also considered, I think there is value in backing under 2.5 goals to be scored again at the price of around 6/5.
