Super Bowl 54 Odds: Niners vs. Chiefs Betting Preview

Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers opened as small underdogs on the Super Bowl odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, and that line has stayed relatively stable leading up to Sunday’s kickoff.

The Niners range between 1-point underdogs and 2-point underdogs for Super Bowl 54 at online betting sties, and they’ll get a chance to pick up a fourth straight against-the-spread victory with a win on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. San Francisco closed out its regular-season schedule with a 26-21 win at Seattle as 3.5-point favorites, and subsequently covered spreads of seven points and eight points against the Vikings and the Packers in its first two game of the playoffs with 27-10 and 37-20 wins.

Overall the Niners are a profitable 6-2 ATS over their eight most recent outings according to the OddsShark NFL Database. The OVER has also paid off on the totals in four of their last six games, with the OVER/UNDER for Super Bowl 54 set at 54.5 points at sportsbooks.

The Chiefs, however, have been an even better wager in recent weeks, covering the spread eight straight times during their current eight-game winning streak. That includes a pair of ATS wins in the playoffs, with Kansas City favored by 10 points in its 51-31 win over Houston and seven points in its 35-24 win over Tennessee.

Kansas City was listed as the betting favorite in each of those eight straight wins except its December 8 victory at New England; the Chiefs won that one 23-16 as 3-point underdogs.

Looking past the line and total, Super Bowl prop bets have been rolled out by the sportsbooks, including an OVER/UNDER of two minutes for Demi Lovato’s rendition of the national anthem prior to kickoff.  The OVER is the -250 betting favorite for that prop wager.

There’s also an OVER/UNDER of eight songs being performed during the halftime show, which will feature Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, with the OVER the -160 betting favorite. As well, there’s an OVER/UNDER of 1.5 songs being performed in Spanish during halftime, with OVER the -300 favorite, along with +1000 odds of a wardrobe malfunction during the show.

And there are +245 odds for Donald Trump attending the game, and an OVER/UNDER of 13.5 Trump tweets during the game. The UNDER is set as the -170 favorite for that one.
