NBA DFS Picks: Daily Fantasy Plays on DraftKings for 12/4/19

It’s me, Hot Tea McKee, and I’m back with another round of NBA Daily Fantasy Picks for DraftKings. I’m calling myself “Hot Tea” today because it’s cold (relatively) and rainy today in Los Angeles … just look at the sad photo of my dog Danilo Gallinari (yes, that’s his real name) below:

NBA DFS Picks: Daily Fantasy Plays on DraftKings for 12/4/19

Today, my rankings are based on my favorite things to consume on a rainy day: Ranking the players as shoes:

  • Single Malt Hot Toddy: High-priced players that are worth paying up for because they’re hot and strong. (aka studs)
  • Homemade Chicken Noodle: Staples that are solid, hard to go wrong with picking. (aka chalk)
  • Grilled Cheese: Cheap, but great if paired with stronger soup plays. (aka punts)

Single Malt Hot Toddy Plays

Luka Doncic – PG/SF, MIN @ DAL ($11,300)

The Sly Slovenian led off yesterday’s column as well. Before you accuse me of being uncreative by going right back to him, he put up 65 DKFPs last night on the road in New Orleans. Tonight he’s back home against the Timberwolves, a team that gives up the fifth most fantasy points to point guards. Until further notice, feel free to build every lineup around the 20-year-old MVP candidate.

Andre Drummond – C, MIL @ DET ($8,900)

The Other AD isn’t a set-it-and-forget-it play like Luka. The Pistons are on the second night of a back-to-back, which means there’s a good chance Blake Griffin ends up resting. Keep an eye on that. If Blake ends up going to the comedy club instead of the arena, Drummond stands to benefit in a big way. Not only does his rebound rate go up with Griffin off the court, the Big Penguin put up huge fantasy games early in the season when Blake was hurt. In the first nine games of the season, Drummond averaged 57 DKFP.

Homemade Chicken Noodle Plays

Jaren Jackson Jr. – PF/C, MEM @ CHI ($6,800)

Triple J is an amazing fantasy producer when he can stay on the court. He’s also amazing at fouling out in less than 20 minutes some nights. This makes him a stronger GPP play than cash play. He can easily put up 45 DKFP, like he did in his last game (against the Pacers, no less). But, he can just as easily be limited to 19 minutes and 18 DKFP, like he did in the game before that.

However, I really like him in this spot against Chicago, a team allowing the most DraftKings fantasy points to opposing power forwards. Proceed with caution, but if Valanciunas and Anderson are both unable to go, there should be a lot of Jackson on offense.

Donovan Mitchell – PG/SG, LAL @ UTA ($7,100)

I think this is an amazing price tag for Mitchell. Mike Conley is out with a hamstring injury. This will put the ball in Mitchell’s hands much more. His assist rate nearly doubles without Conley on the court this season and Utah will likely need Mitchell to play some extra minutes to fill the void left by Conley.

I really like stacking Mitchell with Mudiay … as you’ll see below.

Grilled Cheese Plays

Emmanuel Mudiay – PG, LAL @ UTA ($3,200)

On Oct. 25, Mudiay went for 12 points in just 16 minutes against the Lakers. They weren’t garbage-time minutes, either. The Jazz put up 31 fourth-quarter points in that game to keep pace with LeBron and AD. Not only has Mudiay been playing well as late, but Mike Conley is out, so there will be PLENTY of minutes for him. He feels like a steal at this price point! I’m going to be stacking Mudiay with Mitchell in multiple lineups tonight. It’s an NBA TV game against the best team in the Western Conference. You know M & M will want to impress.

Dwight Powell ($4,100);  Maxi Kleber ($3,800); Boban Marjanovic ($3,100)

Putting these three Dallas bigs together because playing them is completely dependent on Kristaps Porzingis sitting out. KP is yet to play in a back-to-back this season. The Mavericks are rightly being really cautious with the health of their star big man.

Even if Zinger doesn’t sit, there’s a great chance his minutes will be limited and there will be plenty of front court playing time to go around. Kleber and Powell would handle the majority of it. However, Boban is a great punt play with his low price. He’s a monster per minute fantasy producer and doesn’t need much run for a good fantasy night.
