The NBA draft is right around the corner and while most already know who the top few picks will be I’m here to give you my best educated projection on what every other team will do come NBA draft night. This obviously does not include trades which I have a strong feeling will most certainly happen.
Dantabase 2019 NBA Mock Draft 1.0
# | Team | Pick | Pos | College |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Pelicans | Zion Williamson | PF | Duke |
Let’s be honest. It would be hilarious if Zion would of went back to Duke but it’s too late now. Pelicans should be able to sell some tickets with this pick. Zion reminds me of Larry Johnson in many ways. | ||||
2 | Grizzlies | Ja Morant | PG | Murray State |
Mike Conley is old. The team is moving in a new direction and what better direction than building a team around Morant. Morant showed Russell Westbrook like explosion and athleticism in the NCAA Tournament. | ||||
3 | Knicks | RJ Barrett | SG | Duke |
Last year at this time Barrett was projected to be the top pick in the draft so Knicks fans at least have that. | ||||
4 | Lakers | De'Andre Hunter | SF | Virginia |
The Lakers “lucked” up getting the 4th pick in the draft. They may trade this pick but if not I think they take Hunter. He’s long and lanky with a decent jump shot and he can also play great on the defensive side of the ball. | ||||
5 | Cavs | Jarrett Culver | SF | Texas Tech |
It just makes sense. Culver is athletic and could really develop into a special player if he focuses on improving the weaknesses in his game. Culver led Texas Tech to the National Championship and if teamed with Collin Sexton they could really be building something in Cleveland. | ||||
6 | Suns | Coby White | SG | North Carolina |
I think most figure Garland going to the Suns here but don’t sleep on the possibility the Suns draft Coby White from North Carolina. White can play the point and also has a nice outside shot that could really make it tough on opposing defenses with him and Devin Booker. | ||||
7 | Bulls | Darius Garland | PG | Vanderbilt |
Garland is coming off a torn MCL that probably cost former Vanderbilt head coach Bryce Drew his job. The injury alone may have him getting picked behind Coby White. Still, if Garland is 100 percent healthy he’s a gamer who can be pretty deadly from the outside. | ||||
8 | Hawks | Nassir Little | SF | North Carolina |
This could surprise some since he didn’t have as impactful a year as most figured he would have at UNC. Little though make no mistake is a large talent and plays excellent defense. With some improvements on the offensive side of the ball Little could end up being quite the steal for the Hawks. | ||||
9 | Wizards | Jaxson Hayes | PF | Texas |
Surprise! Dwight Howard move didn’t work and Howard had yet again another stop where his team got worse overall than the year prior. It’s time to move on and get a big man who can make some plays and create for himself. The offensive game needs some improvement for sure but the pick makes sense for the Bullets. | ||||
10 | Hawks | Cam Reddish | SG/SF | Duke |
Reddish at 10 could potentially be considered a steal. He’s so young and needs to develop his game but he has the potential to be one of the best picks in the draft. | ||||
11 | Timberwolves | Sekou Doumbouya | SF | Paris, France |
Short of a few highlights I know nothing of this guy with exception to him being a big man who can really run the court. Word on the street is that is jumper is the weak part of his game but he can stretch the floor with his length. | ||||
12 | Hornets | PJ Washington | PF | Kentucky |
The Hornets are looking for big men well here’s one that should impact your team instantly. Washington can play all sorts of positions which could really make him as a tough cover on the next level. | ||||
13 | Heat | Romeo Langford | SG | Indiana |
Langford could be really good on the next level. I’ve been saying that for the past year. Now let’s see if Riley agrees. Miami is a perfect fit since D Wade retired. | ||||
14 | Celtics | Brandon Clarke | PF | Gonzaga |
The Celtics could really go with a few different options here but I think they got their eye on a big man. Clarke makes sense to pair with Tatum and the Celtics future. | ||||
15 | Pistons | Tyler Herro | SG | Kentucky |
Herro really impressed me during his one year at Kentucky. When big shots needed to be made it seemed like Herro had no problem with taking and making the big ones. | ||||
16 | Magic | Nickeil Alexander Walker | SG | Virginia Tech |
Walker is a stud on the defensive side of the ball and but he’s not one dimensional he’s got a solid offensive game as well. | ||||
17 | Nets | Bol Bol | C | Oregon |
Bol has a nice outside shot for a guy his height but since we’ve only seen a small sample size of him perhaps injuries could be a concern moving forward. | ||||
18 | Pacers | Rui Hachimura | PF | Gonzaga |
The Pacers and Hachimura make too much sense. His game and energy would fit the team perfectly. Keep an eye out on this being a potential great pick when we look back years from now. | ||||
19 | Spurs | Keldon Johnson | SG | Kentucky |
The Spurs have two first round picks so they could do a few different things here. If they stay here I’m thinking they go after two guard Keldon Johnson from Kentucky. The Spurs missed Danny Green’s longball last season and well Johnson is known for his sharp shooting. | ||||
20 | Celtics | Kevin Porter Jr. | SG | USC |
Porter could help fill the role of Irving leaving which appears to be likely. Porter is a rare talent that could really pay off and since the Celtics have multiple picks and a bright future I wouldn’t be surprised if Ainge pulled the trigger on Porter. | ||||
21 | Thunder | Talen Horton Tucker | SF | Iowa State |
Tucker only played one year of college ball but if you look at his maximum potential and this could be a great pick by a franchise known for drafting well. | ||||
22 | Celtics | Nicholas Claxton | PF | Georgia |
Another power forward? Why not? Claxton needs to continue to develop his offensive game but he’ll instantly help defensively and the team should automatically be a much more athletic team with his arrival. | ||||
23 | Jazz | Goga Bitadze | C | Rep of Georgia |
I’ve never seen this guy play but his highlights make him look amazing. The Utah Jazz seem like a team that would not only take a chance on a foreign player but they also should be trying to get better at the center position. | ||||
24 | 76ers | Ty Jerome | SG | Virginia |
Jerome is a good defender with a nice jumper and could potentially be a solid role player for the Sixers. | ||||
25 | Blazers | Grant Williams | PF | Tennessee |
Williams makes too much sense here. The Blazers lacked big men in all their playoff matchups and need to address that with this pick. Williams should be just the guy to do it. | ||||
26 | Cavs | Mfondu Kabengele | C | Florida State |
He’s 7’2 and can run the court. Plus he’s a good jump shooter. The Cavs have got to think about getting a center at some point. Perhaps they do it here. | ||||
27 | Nets | Admiral Schofield | SF | Tennessee |
Look I’m betting they maybe trade this pick but maybe not so with a random guess here. Schofield makes sense. They need improvement at the 3 and Schofield may be the best available at the pick. | ||||
28 | Warriors | Carsen Edwards | PG | Purdue |
Man. If this happens it could spell trouble for the rest of the league. Edwards is coming off an amazing tournament and could really be a steal this late. If the Warriors pass on him don’t rule out the Spurs taking him with the next pick. | ||||
29 | Spurs | Matisse Thybulle | SF | Washington |
Look, when you get this late in the first round it’s really hard to project what player will go where. The Spurs have some weaknesses at certain positions but I still expect Pop to draft the best player on the board which means Thybulle to the Spurs. | ||||
30 | Bucks | Dylan Windler | SG | Belmont |
Do the Bucks get yet another nice shooter? It kinda makes sense but then again maybe they try to find someone who creates their own shot. I got them going for Windler and who can kinda do both. |
