NHL Playoffs DFS Core Plays (Wednesday, April 10)

With the NHL postseason tipping off Wednesday April 10th, look into these players (sorted by position) to build your DFS lineups around.

Goaltender – Pekka Rinne (Nashville Predators)

Rinne has a save percentage of 0.918, and a goals against average of 2.42 with four shutouts. In what projects to be a lower scoring series with shutout potential, look into targeting Pekka Rinne not only Wednesday, but throughout the series as well.

Rinne has been his best at home with his save percentage at .920, and his goals against average at 2.17. In games won, Rinne has an outstanding 1.62 goals against average and 9.44 save percentage. His success is vital to help the Predators to come away with a first round victory.

The Stars average the lowest goals per game of any playoff team with 2.5, and average a very low 30.7 shots per game. The strength of the Stars have been their powerplay, however the Predators match up well with the sixth ranked penalty kill at 82.1 percent. This looks like a tough series for the Stars to pull the upset off.

Center – Tomas Hertl (San Jose Sharks)

As difficult as it is to look into players other than Steven Stamkos at the center position, there are some other players with tremendous upside at much smaller price tags. Look into potentially targeting a player in the Golden Knights versus Sharks game which should see an emphasis on offense.

San Jose’s Tomas Hertl is having a career best season logging 35 goals and 39 assists on 176 shots. He is averaging 6-points over the most recent five games and enters the postseason playing well. Hertl’s offensive impact should be felt.

Wingers – Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay Lightning)

Nikita Kucherov is having an insane season putting up 128 points – 41 goals and 87 assists through 82 games. This is his second straight season recording over 100 points.

Kucherov has been an impactful player in the postseason throughout all three of the Lightning’s recent playoff runs. The last time these two teams met, it was a 5-1 Lightning victory where Kucherov had 2-goals, 3-assists on 5-shots on goal. He is a must include in all of your daily fantasy lineups Wednesday night.

Defenseman – Kris Letang (Pittsburgh Penguins)

A blocked shot is typically worth 0.5 points, the same scoring as a shot on goal. When targeting this position, look for a player that is going to record big minutes of ice time.

Although Pittsburgh’s Kris Letang has only played 65 games this season, he has been super productive scoring 16 goals and 40 assists on 206 shots on goal. To add to his stats, he has blocked 111 shots and averages over 25 minutes played per game. Similar to Kucherov, Letang is a player known to play his best around playoff time. Look for his success to continue as a more affordable option to target in your DFS lineups.
