DANTABASE: NCAA Basketball Breakdown & Bubble Watch

NCAA Basketball Breakdown & Bubble Watch

FRIDAY

BOWLING GREEN @ OHIO

Bowling Green is tied for the best record in the MAC and are currently the 2 seed. With a matchup against the top seed looming they need not fall asleep at the wheel while on the road against one of the MAC’s worst teams.

KENT STATE @ BUFFALO

Buffalo is the top seed in the MAC but they have no room for error. Kent State may further back in the MAC but make no mistake the Golden Flashes are a pretty good team. Their currently 19-7 as a team and could be a tough out for the Bulls.

INDIANA @ IOWA

Indiana has lost 11 of their last 12 but yet somehow someway this team is still alive for a potential NCAA tournament bid. They need to start winning ASAP. Iowa is coming off a tough one point loss to Maryland after winning the two previous games on wild buzzer beaters. The Hawkeyes are a tournament team but seeding is at stake here.

SATURDAY

TENNESSEE @ LSU

This was probably a look ahead game for LSU because the Tigers laid an egg and lost at home to Florida earlier in the week. Potentially costing them the top seed in the SEC. This is a gigantic game for LSU if they do want the top seed. Tennessee lost to Kentucky last week and then rebounded with a win of Vanderbilt but the Vols have the top seed on their mind as well.

MARQUETTE @ PROVIDENCE

The Golden Eagles of Marquette are really putting together a special year. Providence is in desperate need for a huge home win over a quality opponent. Well, here’s the chance they’ve been looking for.

TEXAS @ OKLAHOMA

Both of these teams are currently projected to be in the field of 68 but not by much, which makes this a huge game in the BIG 12 and must watch TV.

BOSTON COLLEGE @ CLEMSON

Clemson has lost some tough ones lately and really needs to grab the win here. Boston College has been up and down all year and is perhaps playing for conference tournament seeding here. Clemson need not lay an egg or they might find themselves on the outside of the bubble.

VIRGINIA @ LOUISVILLE

Louisville looks they’ve kinda lost their way. The Cardinals can perhaps save their season with a big win here. Louisville looks like their confidence has been quite raddled lately. Virginia followed up the Duke loss with some real nice wins and the Cavs are playing for a one seed in both the Conference and NCAA Tournament.

TULSA @ TEMPLE

Temple is currently about as much on the bubble as one team can get. This is an absolute must win game for them. Tulsa blew out Temple a few weeks ago and now its the Owls chance for revenge.

WESTERN KENTUCKY @ OLD DOMINION

This is a huge Conference USA game here. Old Dominion is currently the top seed in the conference but Western Kentucky is not far behind sitting at third place. Here’s a chance to narrow the gap.

AUBURN @ KENTUCKY

Kentucky has their eye on the top seed in the SEC tournament. Auburn is looking for revenge after Kentucky came down to Alabama and beat the Tigers in their own stadium.

IOWA STATE @ TCU

TCU needs every win it can get right now. They’re on the outside and fading fast after losing to Oklahoma State. Iowa State is looking to rebound after losing to Baylor in Ames. Plus the Cyclones are looking for revenge after TCU beat them in Ames a few weeks back.

OHIO STATE @ MARYLAND

Both these teams are in but Ohio State still needs to do some work. Here’s their chance. Maryland grabbed a huge road win at Iowa earlier in the week and with Michigan and Michigan State set to do battle twice over the next week the Terps are still a threat to win the BIG TEN regular season title.

FLORIDA STATE @ NORTH CAROLINA

Two ACC heavyweights going at it. North Carolina could be in a let down spot after getting the road win at Duke. Florida State is quietly been on fire. This is must watch TV.

MISSOURI @ FLORIDA

Florida finally got their big win they needed with a win at LSU earlier in the week and now they must not slip up against a Missouri team that is capable of beating the Gators. Florida is currently listed as the last four in so this is a gigantic game for the Gators.

PURDUE @ NEBRASKA

Nebraska needs to win this game if they want any chance at making the field of 68. Purdue is playing for conference seeding here.

OKLAHOMA STATE @ KANSAS STATE

Kansas State really needs to win this game. It’s a must win game for the Wildcats since they lost to Iowa State last week and setting up the Wildcats to potentially lose their top seed in the Big 12 to their bitter rival Kansas. The Wildcats still have to play at Kansas so this is a for sure must win.

SOUTH CAROLINA @ MISSISSIPPI STATE

Frank Martin suddenly has this South Carolina team playing some good ball. The Gamecocks are for sure on the outside of the tournament but if they can keep gathering wins perhaps South Carolina can work its way into the bubble.

DUKE @ SYRACUSE

College Gameday was supposed to be in Syracuse on Saturday but after the tragedy surrounding Syracuse they moved the Gameday to Bristol, CT. This is a huge game for Syracuse and a season sweep against Duke would be huge.

SOUTH FLORIDA @ HOUSTON

Houston is playing for the top seed in the American. South Florida is playing for their postseason lives. This should be a good one. South Florida is running out of chances to get into the field. This is their shot.

HARVARD @ YALE

The top two teams in the Ivy and two bitter rivals are set to do battle this Saturday. What more could we want?

KANSAS @ TEXAS TECH

Okay Texas Tech, here’s your chance at perhaps ending Kansas’s chances of winning the Big 12. The winner of this may have the best track to win the BIG 12 regular season title.

FRESNO STATE @ NEVADA

Nevada is coming off an upset loss to San Diego State and the Wolfpack need to get things back on track. Fresno State is one of their top threats within the conference. The Bulldogs won at the Pit now can they win in Reno?

SETON HALL @ ST. JOHNS

The Pirates of Seton Hall have been up and down all year. St. John’s scored a huge win when they came back from down 20 to beat Villanova. This is a big one for Big East seeding as well.

UTAH STATE @ BOISE STATE

Utah State is so close to making the tournament but they can’t afford an upset loss to a decent Boise State team. Boise State has been a lot more competitive the 2nd half of the season.

TEXAS A&M @ ARKANSAS

Arkansas is in desperate need of wins if they want to make the field of 68. Right now I think i saw them as a team that’s right on the outside. This is an absolute must win game for the Razorbacks.

SAINT MARYS @ SAN DIEGO

Speaking of must wins Saint Mary’s is a team that can’t afford a loss right now. They are currently in the first four teams out range which means this is a gigantic game for them. San Diego has played well at home all year and is a tough out for anyone in the WCC.

BYU @ GONZAGA

The Zags are chasing the 1 seed here. BYU sure could use a gigantic win. I doubt this game will be close but stranger things have happened.

SAN FRANCISCO @ SANTA CLARA

The Dons of San Francisco came up with a gigantic win at BYU earlier in the week and now must grab the win against a Santa Clara team that is playing a lot better in the 2nd half of the season. San Francisco is currently listed as the first four teams out of the tournament so this is big one for the Dons.

SUNDAY

SMU @ CENTRAL FLORIDA

Central Florida is coming off a loss to Cincinnati and bracketology has UCF as barely on the inside of making the tournament. This is a must win against a SMU team without their top scorer.

VILLANOVA @ XAVIER

The Wildcats sure need to get back on the winning side here. Villanova is coming off three bad losses to Marquette, St. John’s and Georgetown and need to get the win here before they give up more ground within the Big East.

MICHIGAN STATE @ MICHIGAN

Okay finally this game is here. If you are college basketball junkie like myself then you’ve probably circled this game back when the schedule dropped. BIG TEN conference championship and tournament seeding all on the line here. This is must watch TV.

CALIFORNIA @ ARIZONA STATE

Arizona State needs every win it can get right now and well a loss to California would probably cost them everything. California has been awful this year but stranger things have happened.
