After getting crushed by NFL bettors for the second week in a row, oddsmakers have adjusted lines upward in an effort to challenge them and win back some money. This is especially true for Sunday’s slate of 12 games, eight of which have favorites listed at six points or more, with six of them playing at home.
One of those is the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles (4-4), who are 6.5-point home favorites on the NFL Week 10 odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com hosting the Dallas Cowboys (3-5) in a key NFC East matchup on Sunday Night Football.
Coming off their bye week, the Eagles are still hoping to repeat as division champions this season despite a rough 2-3 start, and they find themselves only one game back of the NFC East-leading Washington Redskins after they lost 38-14 to the Atlanta Falcons last week.
Unfortunately for Philadelphia, the team has gone just 1-5 straight up and against the spread in its past six home meetings with Dallas, according to the OddsShark NFL Database. But fortunately for the Eagles, they have performed extremely well in prime time lately, going 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS in their last eight.
The five other home teams favored by six points or more at the sportsbooks for Sunday include the New York Jets (-7.5), Green Bay Packers (-9.5), Chicago Bears (-6.5), Kansas City Chiefs (-16.5) and Los Angeles Rams (-10). However, a few of them do not have favorable trends going for them in their games.
The Jets are hosting the Bills and have lost 10 of their last 13 divisional games after getting swept by the Miami Dolphins last week. The Dolphins are visiting the Packers and have won 10 of the past 14 meetings, going 4-1 ATS in the last five on the road. The Detroit Lions will invade Soldier Field and have won nine of the previous 10 matchups with the Bears, who have also dropped 10 straight versus NFC North foes.
The two biggest home favorites though look to be good bets based on historical trends. The Chiefs have won four straight home meetings with the Arizona Cardinals by an average of more than 25 points. The Rams are also 5-1 ATS in the past six home meetings with the Seattle Seahawks, who are 0-23 SU in their last 23 games as double-digit underdogs while failing to cover the spread 15 times during that stretch.
