Sunday night baseball is back and Cardinals-Cubs gives us an early matchup between two teams that should be neck and neck down the stretch. Don’t let people tell you May doesn’t matter. When you play a division rival nineteen times they all really matter when it’s going to come down to the final three games. Think of early season wins as equity you can build towards your season win total. You can’t lose games already in the win column.
I’m not seeing strikeout props available for this but I like both Michael Wacha and Jon Lester to finish with at least 7. If you can find Wacha at over 6.5 jump all over it. He’s been remarkably consistent in his home starts this year. So far I’m 1-1 in my prop of the week picks and based on the strength of these starting pitchers I feel confident on improving that record this week with Under 26 Hits/Runs/Errors. Cubs defense alone can save five hits with their ability to pick it. For immediate action, I like either team scores in the first inning -105.
In DFS I’m using the single game “Showdown” mode for this instead of trying to tie it into the day games. I love the value of Javy Báez at $9,600. He’s leading the National League in slugging percentage so far this season and is $1,200 cheaper than his teammate Kris Bryant. On the St. Louis side Marcel Ozuna at $6,400 is a great value. Despite starting off with a .281 OBP his counting stats are still there providing some solid value. Good to ride him now as his profile suggests a big uptick in production in the coming weeks.
As far as the game goes I like what Wacha has done at home this year. I’m seeing this as a -105 pickem so I’ll go with him and the Cards at home with under 8 total runs. Thanks for reading and please send any questions about next week to @scott_bowser on Twitter. Thank you!
