MLS 2023 Week 26 Preview and Predictions – MLS Gambling Podcast (ep. 68)

The Best Player Versus The Best Team

Hany Mukhtar and his Nashville SC team will take on the Eastern Conference first-place team Cincinnati FC. This matchup could be a (and probably is) playoff preview. While some teams are already focused on the All-Star break plans these two teams should be focused and fired up for this contest.

Nashville SC is currently ranked in third place in the Eastern Conference, a full 10 points behind Cincinnati. With an 11-5-7 record they are playing okay right now but it’s Hany Mukhtar who is the real story here. Mukhtar is the reigning Landon Donovan MVP and Golden Boot winner. He currently leads the MLS in both categories and if he wins both again he would be the first back-to-back double-winner. Hany currently has 13 goals and seven assists across 23 matches, 19 of which he started. He looks to continue his hot run versus Cincinnati but Nashville has struggled on the road, so it’s yet to be seen if he’ll be able to.

A Red Hot Home Team

FC Cincinnati on the other hand has been playing lights out with 48 points and a 14-6-2 record. At home they have an astounding 10-0-1 record winning every game, keeping clean sheets in six of them. They’ve scored 36 goals while allowing 24 and have expected goals per game of 1.39 and an actual average of 1.64. So while it looks like they should be expecting some regression, I’m not sure whether it starts here with a struggling Nashville road team.

Regardless of the outcome of this game, this is definitely one of the matches you will need to watch this weekend. It’s not often the best player takes on the best team and with this looking to be a MLS playoff preview, it should be a great match.

One Last Chance To Stack Some Units

If you’re like the guys, @PickManagement and @Trods1019, soccer is your most bet sport. With all the other major leagues still on break and most teams just playing friendlies, we are about to face a soccer shortage. That means you need to take full advantage of this MLS Slate and the great analysis you get from our hosts.
