Bellator 286: Freire vs. Borics

Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, California

Bellator is headed out West this weekend for a stacked fight card that features Patricio Pitbull defending his featherweight title against top contender Adam Borics. In the co-main event, former featherweight champion A.J. McKee will be moving up to lightweight where he will face UFC veteran Spike Carlyle. In this article, I will preview and give you my best bets heading into Bellator 286.

Main Card: Showtime 10:00 pm EST

Patricio Freire vs. Adam Borics

This line doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t think Adam Borics’s resume compares to Pitbull’s. I’ve noticed that Borics tends to leave his chin high and take some big shots. Pitbull is a warrior and a very balanced fighter. I think Pitbull is better everywhere, on the feet, on the ground. Borics does have great cardio so maybe he can tough it out for five rounds. You have to go with the best fighter in Bellator. Give me Patricio Freire on the ML (-140).

Spike Carlyle vs. A.J. McKee

A.J McKee is making his lightweight debut against Spike Carlyle. McKee is a huge favorite and his move up to lightweight was surprising, especially since he had so much success at featherweight. Spike used to fight in the UFC and has a very wild fighting style. If Spike makes this fight scrappy and into a dog fight, he could be a live dog. But I do like McKee, I think he’s more fundamental and better everywhere. I think he gets the finish. Give me McKee inside the distance at (-215) and sprinkle a little on McKee to win via KO/TKO at (+225).

Parlay

To get a little more bang for your buck. I have a two-leg parlay for plus money. Give me Patricio Freire on the ML as well as A.J. McKee on the ML for a (+104) price. I think McKee is going to make quick work of Carlyle and his wild fighting style will be his downfall. As for Pitbull, you can’t fade him in his first title defense. Let’s have an awesome weekend everyone and let’s stay hot!
